Modeling the probability distribution of maximum rainfall at the Salache Meteorological Station
Abstract
This article establishes the best probabilistic distribution according to the analysis of maximum monthly rainfall frequencies, using the record of the Salache Meteorological Station, located in the canton Latacunga, province of Cotopaxi. The analysis considers the distributions Normal, Log-Normal, Gumbel, Log-Gumbel, Pearson Type III and Log-Pearson Type III; and to determine the most appropriate, the Chi-Square adjustment goodness tests and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov verification test were used. The results determined that the Log-Normal distribution is more adjusted to the maximum precipitation data provided by the Salache Meteorological Station for the years 2020 and 2021.
